The best place of buy coconut oil is at any natural or health food store like GNC. Apply the coconut oil to the scalp and scrub away the dead skin with a brush or fingernails. Try replacing your current shampoo with a natural one, like a Tea Tree Oil based shampoo. Tea Tree Oil is a fantastic anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory natural ingredient which will help to soothe your itchy scalp and prevent infections. Other great natural oils to look out for when choosing a shampoo or conditioner are Zinc Pyrithione and Jojoba. Zinc pyrithione is great at combating dandruff and as a cure for itchy scalp conditions. First synthesized in the 1930’s, it is the most widely used active ingredient from a natural source. Having good anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties it’s used to treat dandruff, itchy scalp, seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema and numerous other skin and scalp disorders. Jojoba is excellent as a scalp moisturiser and helps to re-balance sebum.

Mix a two-to-one ratio of apple cider vinegar and warm water (two vinegar to one water). If you want to cleanse and condition your scalp further and add a fragrance to your hair then you can always a couple of drops of essential oils such as lavender or rosemary – both excellent for getting rid of itchy scalps and dandruff. (Always patch test oils for allergies, and always consult your doctor if you are pregnant).

Do not forget to condition your hair every time you shampoo it. Go for a nutrient-rich conditioner which moisturizes and fills in the tiny cracks in your hair shaft.

In some cases, if the hair fall out as a result of any particular disease, they are likely to be replaced when the patient gets rid of the disease. The hair may, in that sense, be called a barometer of disease. The moment the falling of the hair is noticed, one should take to vigorous massage of the scalp, because, if the hair fall and a fine down appear on the scalp, total baldness is not far away.

For stubborn dandruff, a stronger mixture can be made (try one-to-one ratio of vinegar to water) and Lemon juice can also be used instead of apple cider vinegar.

Apple Cider Vinegar has been used for centuries as one of the best home remedies for dandruff. First wash your hair with a natural pH balanced shampoo. Mix some apple cider vinegar with warm water (2 parts vinegar to 1 part water). Adding a few drops of natural oils like Lavender or Rosemary will cleanse the scalp further and fragrance your hair. Pour or spray this mixture onto your scalp, massage in and leave to dry – no need to rinse out.
